Seed Exploration for Planting Science ActivityTo observe plants a little more closely, I place opened seed bags in Ziplock bags. Students use magnifying glasses to take a closer look at all of the little seeds! They are intrigued to see that they are so different! Lima Bean Plant Life Cycle Craft for ScienceThis year, we went into a little more depth with our lima bean life cycle. We learned about the life cycle of a lima bean by watching a time-lapse video on YouTube. Then we colored the life cycle sheet (included in the pack below) to make the pictures look real. I gave students real lima beans, and they drew pictures of the beans in their observation journals. Then, while students were coloring and cutting out their greenhouse projects, they took turns wrapping their seeds in wet paper towels and placing them in Ziplock bags with me. (Prior to them visiting me at the planting station, I sprayed the towels with water.) Each kiddo gave their seeds an extra spray or two as well. Once students finished their greenhouses, I stapled the greenhouse projects to their Ziplock bags. Students continue to observe their beans in their greenhouses and make observation notes in their journals. Upon completion of the observation journals, we make the lima bean crafts to staple to the front as a book cover!
