Elephant Craft, Place Value, Number Sense Activity: Savannah, Africa, Zoo
As you explore elephants with your exploration of the savannah, Africa, or zoo theme, practice place value with this kindergarten math activity! During morning work or center time, students create elephant crafts. Three options are included to best meet the needs of your little learners. During math centers, a small-group, or a whole-group math lesson, students add place value pieces. This is a super simple, easily differentiated activity. You might give students blank pieces for them to draw tens sticks and ones cubes and then write numbers on their own. You might also write numbers on the elephant heads for students to just draw tens sticks and ones cubes. Another option is to give each student one tens stick piece and another ones cube piece for students to write the numbers on the heads. Put all of the pieces of the printable craft together for a fun fine motor and visual-spatial activity, along with a cute elephant bulletin board display!
