Birthday Book for Kindergarten FREEBIE
These little birthday books are on half sheets of paper. Prior to the beginning of the school year, copy a class set of covers on colored cardstock. Copy class sets of pages 2 and/or 3, as needed for your grade level. Copy the pages so page 4 is on the back sides of the writing pages. Place a cover and pages set in a plastic baggy for all of your students so you will be prepared for birthdays throughout the entire year!
For example, in my kindergarten classroom, I copy a total of 26 covers, 10 sets with 26 pages of page 2, and 15 sets with 26 pages of page 3. (By the time we have created 10 birthday books, my kindergarten students are ready to write independently. ) Then I place 1 cover and 1 class set of birthday pages in a plastic bag. I put 26 bags together total.
When it is a student’s birthday, students write messages to the birthday kid! The birthday kid gets to decorate the front cover and add candles to the cake! I collect all of the sheets and staple cover and pages together.
Book companions to go along with this craft include, but certainly are not limited to, the following titles:
Happy Birthday, Mouse!
Who Made This Cake?
Happy Birthday To You!
