Dental Health Activity with Brushing and Flossing Germ Bug Craft
As you study dental health, teach students proper techniques for brushing and flossing with this germ bug craft pack! Crete crafts during morning work or center time as students practice fine motor and visual-spatial skills. During health class, brush and floss! Check out the PREVIEW option on this page to get a glimpse of how the craft turned out in our classroom!
Directions:
Students glue pink mouths onto bottom sides of blue heads. (For my K students, I stapled these pieces together to ensure it was completed properly.) Fold ovals on the dotted lines to create a germ bug. Add eyes and antennae with stars. Students can either color “teeth” white or glue marshmallows onto the circles. Give students new toothbrushes, and discuss proper ways for brushing teeth. Have students gently pretend to practice on the teeth.
Discuss proper flossing techniques. Give students long pieces of yarn to gently practice flossing between teeth. (I taped the yarn to the bottoms of the germ bug.)
