Back to School Writing Samples Packet for the Kindergarten Year
Record students’ knowledge of handwriting, letters, letter sounds, and drawing throughout the kindergarten year with this writing samples packet. We start recording our writing in August, and we end our documentation in July. In our classroom, I print the entire packet for each student as follows:
-one-sided
-3-hole punched
-corner staple
Directions for each month are listed in the packet. Students copy words from the board and then from word banks to start the year. In our classroom, students refer to thematic anchor charts for the word banks. In the middle of the year, students write words as the teacher says them. By the end of the year, students write on their own.
Tip: Each month, I flip the pages and place packets at each students’ area to avoid confusion.
