Thanksgiving Arts and Crafts for Kindergarten with Color Words and Stuffed Turkey Pet
As you study turkeys this Thanksgiving, create these adorable little turkey crafts!
Practice fine motor skills, visual-spatial skills, and color words in a kindergarten reading lesson or literacy center. These turkeys are a student and parent favorite, and they serve as the perfect centerpieces for a Thanksgiving feast!
Prior to starting the craft, prep a brown paper bag for each student. Loosely crumple a piece of scrap paper or newspaper, and place it inside of a brown paper bag. Twist the top of the bag to close it, and staple it to keep it closed.
Students color feathers as noted, which is great practice for reading color words. They cut out feather set.
Students cut and glue eyes to head. Color snood red. Cut and glue beak/snood to head.
Teacher staples feathers to back of bag, so they are sticking up a bit past the twisted section of the bag.
Teachers staples head so it covers the twisted part of the bag.
Students then use liquid glue to attach the wings just below the head. Glue legs so they hang off of the bag a bit.
In our classroom, students enjoy pretending the turkeys are their pets. They name their turkeys and take care of them, as they sit on their desks for the day. When students take them home, they make an adorable Thanksgiving decoration!
