Jeep Craft | Measuring | Nonstandard Unit of Measurement | Safari, Africa
As you explore measurement throughout your safari or jungle unit, students practice using trees as nonstandard units of measurement to measure a jeep craft. Measure during math centers or a whole-group lesson in preschool, kindergarten, or first grade. Students might verbally answer measurement questions; you might also compare the measurements during your activity. To challenge students, they write how many trees high/wide objects are on the included sheet. To prepare, students might color and cut pieces for a fun fine motor and visual-spatial activity during morning work or center time. Note that a coloring option is included as well.
