Koala Who Could Craft, Writing: Zoo Reading Comprehension, Book Companion
After reading The Koala Who Could by Rachel Bright, practice comprehension skills, and connect to the text as you complete the koala craft. During guidance time, have a discussion about trying new things. Ask students about something they had been nervous to try, such as riding a bike. Also ask about something they are still nervous to try, like jumping from a high dive. Invite students to share. During writing time, glue writing sheet to a standard sheet of construction paper to create a frame. Glue koala onto sheet. Then students complete sentences. Two writing options are included:
I was nervous to try and I am nervous to try. Students draw pictures to match the words in the space provided.
