End of Year Activities with Kindergarten Alphabet Countdown to Summer
Countdown the last 26 days of school by celebrating the letters! Students create this book with the front cover printed on card stock and 26 copies of the fill-in sheet on regular paper. Each day, for the last 26 days of school, we highlight a letter of the day. We eat a snack that starts with that letter, and we also do a fun activity to go with the letter.
Below is a copy of a note to send home to parents. :) Simply copy and paste it into your newsletter!
For the last 26 days of school, we are going to celebrate with a kindergarten countdown! Our countdown will focus on a letter of the day. We would greatly appreciate your help with our fun and learning!
-Look for your child’s name below. On your child’s assigned day, please send a simple snack for ___ students that starts with your child’s assigned letter. Some letters are a little tricky to connect a snack to. Google is a good friend for this, or you could also link your snack with the day’s activity. :) Another idea would be to send a snack that includes little pieces (cereal, etc.) that we can use to make the letter. On the bold days, please send things/dress as necessary.
Below the note, I listed the date, student name assigned to snack, letter of the day, activity of the day.
Example:
April 25: Sam Aa Animal Day! Bring a stuffed animal to school with you!
A copy of this parent letter is included. You might simply use it to gain ideas for your countdown.
At the end of each day, students complete a letter sheet. Here are ideas for each box on the page, starting from the top left box:
Fill in letter of the day on line.
Draw a picture of something that starts with that letter.
Write the number of days left.
Write an addition sentence using that number.
Write tallies for that number.
Write a subtraction problem for that number.
Write a number bond for that number.
Draw the snack.
Write the name of the snack, and write an adjective to describe it.
Fill in the sentence to tell what the class did today.
Draw a picture to match the sentence.
