Dr. Seuss week is one of our favorite weeks of the school year! To kick off our week, we celebrated the book THE CAT IN THE HAT! We dressed in our pajamas, brought our favorite books to school, and created directed drawings. Our amazing cafeteria crew celebrated with us by making creative snacks for each day! On Tuesday, we celebrated ONE FISH TWO FISH RED FISH BLUE FISH by wearing red and blue. It was fun to wear my personal favorite blue fish, Dori! Students wore fish, too. For morning work, they colored some Seuss fish, and we stapled them to headbands. The kids are always excited to get in on the dress-up fun! We graphed with goldfish, enjoyed Swedish Fish swimming in blue jello, and had a surprise guest stop by with a giant cookie! (That cute little clown is my mom. She really loves to make people smile.) Wednesday was the day to celebrate GREEN EGGS AND HAM! Students made green eggs and ham headbands for morning work. I got to to be the mama chicken with all of my little green eggs. We tried a "green" food, apple pie, and voted on our preference. Most students had never had apple pie, and most liked it! THE CAT IN THE HAT COMES BACK was our Thursday theme, so my boys shared their Ninja hat with me. Ninja is from Fort Nite, so it was a fun conversation piece for the older students. For some classroom fun, we broke animal crackers and put them back together to create wacky creatures, just like Dr. Seuss! As we made the connection to the famous Seuss hat, we also stacked red cups for some fine motor fun! On fun Friday, we voted on our favorite Seuss books and wore our favorite hats. What a special week of fun and learning we had together!
