This is the latest letter practice game we like to play! It's just so, so simple. I love that we don't have to get a bunch of stuff out for a 10-15 minute activity. We just do as many letters as we can squeeze in, until he loses interest. Mom says a letter. He finds the letter on his alphabet puzzle. He writes the letter on his board. There's a little jingle we do with each letter, too! This third child has been the least interested in entertaining me with teaching him, but he's given me clues to prove that he's soaking it in. Just today, he had the hose running into his pool, and the water was forming a rainbow. He started singing, "R for rainbow. R-r-r!" Gah!!! Yay! I wish I could've caught it on video. He was surprised by my excitement, but that was my proof that he actually is engaged with our learning. Such a stinker.... Check it out his little chant with the letter Aa here: : Simple letter games like this one are included in our weekly letter learning regimen, along with work from our Letter Learning Packet. Keep reading for more info! After years of teaching, I have finally compiled my favorite alphabet activities into one resource! The handwriting sheets are just right for the progression of developing the formation of the letters throughout a week of learning. Suggested activities provide SO much fun while learning each letter, and kids are excited to find out what each day has in store! The first page of this resource includes a letter sheet. As we learn new letters, children color the posters with yellow crayons. They are encouraged to practice their letter poems in their free time. Contents for Each Letter: Page 1: Handwriting Directions with suggested youtube links provided AND Suggestions for: -snack -youtube song that correlates with the letter poster -animal research topic -fine motor practice -creating the letters -additional activities Page 2, 3: Letter Poster (color and black and white version) Hang these posters on your fridge for children to refer to as you learn. With both the Zaner Bloser letters on lines and the pictures that are in the shape of letters, letter identification skills stick! Page 4: Letter Poem (Day 1) Each letter has a silly poem to go along with the poster. Child creates a color code and finds the uppercase and lowercase letters. Child counts how many letters s/he found, and writes numbers on the lines. Practice the poem of the week daily to learn letter sounds. I recommend using the letter sign language with the last line of each poem. (Note that you are to say the letter first in the sentence and the sound last.) As you learn each letter, read the poems that go along with each one daily. Be sure to act them out for fun and engagement! Page 5: Uppercase Letter and Lowercase Letter (Day 2) Child traces letters, and write letters in spaces below. You might use crayons or markers for a extra fun. Page 6: Uppercase Letter (Day 3) Child traces, writes, and draws a picture that corresponds with the uppercase letter on the poster. Page 7: Lowercase Letter (Day 4) Child traces, writes, and draws a picture that corresponds with the lowercase letter on the poster. Page 8: Uppercase and Lowercase Letters (Day 5) Child traces, writes, and draws pictures or writes words that begin with the letter. We're looking forward to honoring our fallen soldiers this Memorial Day! Create and celebrate with us! This week's FREEBIES for Families craft features ways for children to work on several skills, including letter identification, writing letters, putting letters in order to build names, and of course, the fine motor tasks of coloring, cutting, gluing, and writing! In working with my three year old, you will see that I wrote the letters and cut out the pieces for him. He enjoyed the task of coloring "circles" over and over again. Apparently, that's his favorite shape of the day?? He loves that glue stick, and I love that it's not messy, so he pieced his project together independently, for the most part. It was a fun task for him to find the letters of his name and put them in the correct order! Our FREEBIE of the week is included as a preview to our deeply discounted bundle, being offered for a very limited of time at 50% off! Along with building their names, your children can practice various skills with our United States Symbols Craft Pack, including putting numbers in order on the Capitol Building, learning about eagles, and adding the stripes on the US flag.
