My mission for each school year to have each child in the class identify all 26 letters and sounds. Singing, dancing, and crafting happen to be my favorite ways to teach, and I admit that I get REALLY excited when I have students who enjoy learning with those same elements. Luckily for me, singing, dancing, and crafting to learn information applies well with most kids. :) :) :) For this reason, I have found silly kid songs to go along with each letter of the alphabet! Letter Craft PackThis letter craft pack that we use every week in our classroom contains an easy craft for each letter of the alphabet. The craft connects directly to a silly song (or on occasion, a learning activity). There is a fill-in and a drawing space on each craft that allows for differentiation. Prep for back to school with this letter craft pack that we use every week in our classroom that contains a craft for each letter of the alphabet! The craft connects directly to a silly song (or for letters O and V, a learning activity). There is a fill-in and a drawing space on each craft that allows for differentiation to add more words and label in the drawing space or to have the teacher write the word on the blank while the child just draws. The letter A craft says, “A is for ant and _____.” Students fill in the blank, using word resources from our letter anchor chart. They refer to that same anchor chart to draw a picture to go with it. Writing and drawing one word is the primary goal. This task is easily differentiated. Some students might need help with writing the word, but they will draw the pictures on their own. For some students, I write the word with a yellow marker for them to trace. Others benefit from a sketch of a drawing for them to color. On the other hand, some students draw more than one picture in the space, and some label the "extra" pictures, too. Other students come up with their own words and sound them out on their own, too. These activities can be completed whole-group (which is what I'd recommend modeling at first), or during center time, once the kids get the hang of the process. After some modeling and practice for the first few projects, I simply project the cover of the product on the board, and the kids take off from there.  FREE! Alligator Letter A Craft and Vocabulary Pack for Beginning Sounds Center

As you explore letters and beginning sounds with your kindergarten phonics activities, explore alphabet vocabulary cards to go along with first sound crafts! Each week, distribute the craft activity to your class. Two craft options are included for you to meet the needs of your little learners, one no prep, and one low prep. For morning work or center time, students color and cut crafts. During your phonics lesson, students cut out word cards. Four word card options are included to provide differentiation throughout the school year. One set lists the words for students to simply read. You might also have students highlight the beginning letter (with markers for extra fun). With the second set, students copy letters to write words on the lines. With the third set, students read the word and cut and glue pictures on booklet pages to match. With the fourth set, students look at the pictures and write words on their own. Students glue cards together, or you might staple them. Glue the crafts to the tops of the book covers for display or keep separate and encourage students to build a little library of beginning sound books! My kiddos call these their “magic marker books” because they get to use their markers to color the little pictures for some additional fine motor fun! You might keep your craft example to refer to as an anchor chart throughout your letter focus. For example, you might read the cards one day, having students clap syllables. Another day, delete the first sound as you read. One day, say the ending sounds of each word. Another day, rhyme each word. Hang all of the crafts up in the room, and use them to review beginning sounds throughout the year, too! An additional idea is to use the packets for the last 26 days of school as you do letter review! If you do a QU wedding in your classroom at the end of the year, tape letter crafts to chairs for all of the letters to be present at your ceremony!
